Taste of Campania Italy Five Course Wine Dinner

Join us here at Granita for a night of traditional regional cuisine from Campania.

Located in Southern Italy on the Tyrrhenion Sea, Campania is broken up into five provinces: Avellino, Benevente, Caserta, Napoli, and Salerno. Famous famous for its gulfs Naples, Salerno, and Policastro, as well as for three islands Capri, Ischia, and Procida.

Campania mainly produces fruit and vegetables, but has also expanded its production of flowers grown in greenhouses, becoming one of the leading regions of the sector in Italy. Campania produces over 50% of Italy's nuts and is also the leader in the production of tomatoes, which reaches 1.5 million tones a year. A weak point for the region's agriculture is the very reduced size of farms.

The wine styles of today’s New World, are completely different from the Old World wine styles. Enjoy wine styles ranging from fruit forward and youthful to robust and well structured. Whites give off the local aromatic characteristics of this region, while reds show off big personalities that require less aging.

What to pair with these wines? Campania is also known for the Buffalo Mozzarella or “Mozzarella di bufala Campana.” Caerta and Selerno are well known for their production in Buffalo Mozzarella. Did you know? The raising of these Buffalo accounts for 30% of the dairy population in Campania. This Italian Mediterranean breed percentage does not exist in any other country.

Did you know? Olive trees cover over 184,350 acres of Campania.
